European Solidarity Corps. Axel’s experience.
Axel participated in the European Solidarity Corps project “Alma di Motta”. The project supports the Alma D’Arte civic school through artistic interventions of non-formal education. A creative open space in a rural area that aim to become a mirror of the local daily life by reflecting the needs of the community.
We asked Axel a few questions about the experience:
This experience within the European Solidarity Corps was interesting and enriching. The objectif of the volunteering was to go in a small Italian village, and trying to create life in this place through artistic activities. For me, it was the first time that I had gone so far from home, and the challenge was significant. I have met lovely people, had interesting discussions. I come out of these six months growing up and I stepped out of my comfort zone. I was able to improve my English, learn a little Italian.
Bring home a lot of memories, a smile and a feeling of luck for what I did.
I recommend this experience to other young Europeans. If the person has some interest in artistic and social themes, this project is for them. A good capacity for autonomy is necessary.
